Saurer 6DM expedition truck for sale. Fascinating Swiss army truck, easy to drive, unstoppable!
We have enjoyed our home-built Saurer Expedition truck (Instagram: Mototravel.be) for about 6 years now, and it's time to move on. We crossed Europe in all directions, being waved at by people loving the impressive optics of this truck. But especially enjoying the unique interior design that makes this a true tiny house on wheels.

The Truck:
The Saurer 6DM is a robust 1985 model, revamped in 2020 for expedition use, measuring 880 x 250 x 370 cm and weighing 12,000 kg (estimate). It is powered by a 250 HP, 6-cylinder Saurer engine, with 4x4 drive and a 250-liter diesel tank. This model features a semi-automatic transmission with 10 forward and 2 reverse gears, ensuring reliable performance in diverse terrains. This 6DM is equipped with a hydraulic winch that will pull you or any fellow traveler out of any situation.
The Living Quarters:
The Belgian army container on the back has been fully furnished with a smart design interior, perfectly hosting 3 people (1 double bed, 1 extra bed by converting the dinette).
Electrics:
- 24V electrical system
- 2 × ECTIVE DC230 AGM deep-cycle leisure batteries, 230 Ah each, configured as a 24V / 230 Ah house bank
- Approx. 5.5 kWh nominal house-battery capacity
- ECTIVE 3,500W inverter, converting 24V DC to 230V AC
- Victron mains battery charger for charging the leisure batteries from 230V shore power
- Victron Cyrix battery combiner connecting the starter and leisure battery systems for alternator charging while driving
- 180W flexible solar panels with extension cable included
- Separate solar charge controller for flex panels
- Heavy-duty cabling suitable for the high-power inverter installation
- System can be charged via alternator, 230V shore power and solar
- Electrical installation is accessible from an interior service compartment for maintenance and future upgrades
Water:
- 150 L fresh water tank inside (no frost), room for an additional 150 L tank.
- Separate circuit for drinking water with filter
- Easy filling from the outside (locked)
- Hot water through Truma diesel heater
- Inside separate shower, and outside shower connection
- 80 L wastewater tank under the truck
Heating:
- Truma diesel heater (high capacity) via hot air to 4 points in the truck
- Diesel source is the main diesel tank, never worry about diesel
Sanitary:
- Separate mini dry toilet with air outlet to outside. As good as unlimited independence
- Toilet and shower area smartly combine into one spacious bathroom
Kitchen:
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Large sink
- Double induction cooking plate
- Large top-opening fridge (80 L)
- Kitchen/living table with wide comfortable seating
Sleeping:
- Comfortable 2-person bed
- 210 cm long, 140 cm wide
- Lighting and reading lights in the sleeping area
- Kitchen table lowers to make a third bed (200 cm long)
